Importance of Silence and Your Thoughts

Importance of Silence and Your Thoughts

When was the last time you spent your time in silence with just you and your thoughts? We are always occupied with some work and even a small moment of quietness is robbed away by our mobile phones. Our thoughts are what shapes our life. You can think in two ways of any situation, positively or negatively.

For example, you have a problem in your life like your mother scolds you because you don’t eat well. If you don’t give place to some detailed thought, you’ll conclude in your mind that your mother hates and she’s finding food as a reason to scold you. Or if you give yourself some time you’ll understand that your mother scolded you only out of pure concern for you and your health. It is very easy to be pessimistic rather than optimistic simply because we do not take time to process our situation or problem before concluding.

Do you think spending some quiet time is important? Believe it or not, it is vital to developing you as a better person and it will give you a purpose to do things in life. You might have noticed people who pray sincerely or at least yourself in some part of your life. What happens in prayer is simple. You are in silence and you are speaking a one-way conversation, sharing what’s happening in your life, and how you want things to get better. Prayer is like a verbal diary. If you use a diary to note down what happens in your life, or a journal, the silent time you spend writing helps you understand the position where you are standing in your life at the moment and sets you forward to where you want to be. If you feel your 24 hours is not enough, you are prioritizing your time wrong.

The one thing that everyone has the same is time. And time is the most mismanaged or misused thing. Wake up at 5 in the morning and you now have 3 hours more than everyone, it’s just that simple. Take walks or go for a small jog or cycling, and remember to leave your earphones behind, they are just noise to your silence. Let your thoughts go wild. Always be imaginative. We have all these technologies we enjoy today only because our great inventors were imaginative. Let your thoughts be good and put them to practice.

Silence and your thoughts help you be creative, calmer, more focused, be more aware, increase productivity, and concentrate better. Jesus went alone into the wilderness to pray and that gave him the strength to withstand Satan’s temptations and strength for his ministry, Buddha got his enlightenment when he spent time alone in meditation. Your thoughts accompanied by silence make you wise. Don’t you want to be one of the Greats?
